MOSCOW, August 17. /TASS/. Mask wearing, social distancing and timely booster shots will help prevent daily coronavirus cases from growing, infectious disease expert Nikolay Malyshev told TASS.
"Mask wearing, social distancing and vaccination will make it possible to keep daily coronavirus cases from rising," he pointed out.
Malyshev emphasized the need to get vaccinated right now because there would be long lines at vaccination points after people returned from vacation in the early fall.
Russia's federal sanitary watchdog earlier recommended wearing face coverings in public places in regions with weekly case rates higher than 50 per 100,000 population. On Monday, authorities in the Buryatia and Tuva regions mandated masks amid a rise in cases. According to the national anti-coronavirus crisis center, Russia's daily cases have remained above 20,000 for a week.
