- Chancellor Scholz began his inaugural trip to Canada on Sunday (21 August) to intensify cooperation between the two countries after a clash in July over the maintenance of a turbine aimed for the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline.
- With the ratification of CETA planned for the Autumn, Scholz is optimistic about opening a new chapter in German-Canada relations: deeper trade, energy and resource cooperation.
- The accord’s goal would be to work on getting the hydrogen market up and running, sharing production technologies and establishing hydrogen supply chains between Canada and Germany.
