TASS, August 26. Six more artillery shells were fired by Ukrainian troops at the territory of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in a span of one hour, bringing the daily tally of attacks against the plant to ten, the military-civilian administration of the city of Energodar said on Friday.
"Over the past hour, Ukraine's troops fired six more artillery shells from the opposite bank of the Dnieper River. Ten artillery strikes at the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP have been reported during the day," it wrote on its Telegram channel.
According to the administration, blasts were heard in the exact vicinity of nuclear isotope storage facilities.
"According to the latest update, no damage was done to the plan's infrastructure and basic facilities. The radiation background is normal," it added.
The city's administration said earlier in the day the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant went under shelling by Ukrainian troops. Four shells reportedly hit the vicinity of a radioactive isotope storage facility.
Located in the city of Energodar, the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant is controlled by Russian troops. In recent days, Ukrainian forces delivered several strikes at its territory using unmanned aerial vehicles, heavy artillery and multiple rocket launch systems. It most cases, such attacks are repelled by air defense systems but several shells hit infrastructure facilities and the vicinity of the nuclear waste storage.
