MOSCOW, September 1. /TASS/. Russia's first climate project aimed at carbon footprint reduction can appear in early fall after the relevant law takes effect, the expert of the international center for sustainable development under UNESCO auspices and the Carbonlab chief executive told TASS.

"Companies can declare from September 1 that they are implementing the type of projects called climatic. For example, these can be forest climate projects or anyone else. It is important that the deliverable is either reduction of emissions or greater absorption [of greenhouse gases - TASS]," Mikhail Yulkin said. "Not every project entailing reduction of emissions can be actually qualified as the climate one," he noted.

For example, the project should result in greater absorption of carbon dioxide over a certain period of time and it should also support carbon dioxide emission prevention in future and not merely provide for its absorption.
