  • The European Court of Auditors (ECA) found that EU institutions demonstrated considerable resilience in the face of the COVID-19  pandemic, but more needs to be done in the post-COVID phase.
  • The  European Parliament, the Council, the European Commission and the Court of Justice of the EU “responded rapidly and flexibly and benefited from previous investments they had made in digitalisation,” ECA’s special report, published on Thursday (1 September), concluded.
  • In particular, the auditors examined whether the institutions’ business continuity plans were adapted to the disruption caused by a pandemic, allowing them to minimise disturbances and fulfil their roles assigned under the Treaties.
