  • The United Nations’s agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) is “an agent of stability” in the region, but the lack of funds and the deprioritisation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict threatens the agency’s work in a “volatile region”, the agency’s head warned European lawmakers.
  • UNRWA ensures access to education to over half a million young refugees and healthcare to around two million Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan.
  • Lazzarini warned that UNRWA’s capacity to provide basic services to Palestinian refugees is at risk due to chronic underfunding and the fading support of the international community.
