MOEX Index down 2.54%, RTS index down 2.74% as trading closes on Tuesday

MOSCOW, September 6. /TASS/. The Russian stock indices ended trading with a downward trend on Tuesday.

The MOEX Index fell by 2.54% to 2,425.33 points, the RTS index went down by 2.74% to 1,252.47 points.

On Tuesday, the price of Brent oil on Tuesday fell by 3.12% to $92.75 per barrel. Gold fell in price by 0.52% to $1,713.65 a troy ounce.

"Despite yesterday's signal from OPEC+, indicating determination to support high oil prices, oil prices resumed their downward trend on Monday evening. Fears of economic problems that could hit global commodity demand outweigh support from major oil producers, and also geopolitical risks," Dmitry Babin, an expert at the BCS World of Investments, said.

By the end of trading on Tuesday, the dollar-to-ruble rate rose by 0.36% up to 61.23 rubles, the euro rate went up by 0.29%, up to 60.41 rubles.

On Tuesday, the leaders of growth were the shares of Russneft (+19.4%), Far Eastern Energy Company) (+4.8%), FESCO (+1.95%).

The decline leaders were the shares of the St. Petersburg Stock Exchange (-7.94%), Polymetal (-5.6%) and depository receipts of Ozon (-5.5%).

According to Freedom Finance Global, on Wednesday, the MOEX Index will be in the range of 2,350-2,450 points. A pair of dollars and euros against the ruble will be in the range of 60-63 rubles.
