- At least 10 Bulgarian border police officers were involved in schemes for illegally crossing migrants into the country, announced the caretaker Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Demerdzhiev on Tuesday.
- The topic of the police officers helping the irregular migrants has come to the fore after two policemen were killed when their police car was rammed by a bus carrying 47 irregular migrants in the Black Sea City of Burgas.
- The accident reinforced doubts about the widespread corruption in border control and forced the government to announce more robust measures against irregular migrants.
