ST. PETERSBURG, September 15. /TASS/. Asian countries are increasing pipeline gas imports amid rising LNG prices and Gazprom sees China's increased interest in increasing Russian gas supplies, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom Management Committee Oleg Aksyutin said at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

"Amid rising LNG prices, Asian markets are increasing their imports of pipeline gas. Gazprom registers an increase in [the number] of applications from China for supplies via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline. This shows a high demand for pipeline gas on the Chinese market," he noted.

According to the company's statement, Gazprom set a new daily record of gas supplies to China via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline on September 10. "Gas exports to China via the Power of Siberia under the two-party long-term contract between Gazprom and CNPC are on the rise. We should note that in September supplies have regularly been above daily contracted volumes. On September 10, a fresh all-time high of daily export volumes was hit," the statement said.
