- The news that the German ailing energy giant Uniper may be nationalised has rallied the Finnish opposition, and the government is being criticised for surrendering to Germany without proper resistance.
- The Finnish government reacted on Friday, with Minister of European Affairs and Ownership Steering Tytti Tuppurainen telling the Finnish parliament, “it is absolutely clear that Finland will not allow Germany to nationalise Uniper without compensation”.
- The National Coalition (NCP) Kai Mykkänen, Germany is intentionally lowering Uniper’s value, and, once it hits rock bottom, the company will be nationalised, and Finnish taxpayers have de facto paid German gas bills.
