- The government is being urged to tackle the issue of irregular migration as more than 3,000 irregular migrants and refugees entered Austria this week, topping the record reached in the first week of September.
- As presidential elections are set for 9 October, and most nominees are on the far right side of the political spectrum, the campaign has brought issues like migration to the fore.
- Austria has seen a massive influx in the number of refugees this year as it registered 47,000 refugees, compared to the 19,000 registered for 2021.
