Trading on Moscow Exchange’s equity market down five-fold since early 2022

KAZAN, September 23. /TASS/. Trading on Moscow Exchange's equity market shrank roughly five-fold since the beginning of this year, according to files presented by Chairman of Moscow Exchange (MOEX) Sergey Shvetsov at a forum on Friday.

In particular, in January 2022 trading on Moscow Exchange's equity market totaled 4.2 trillion rubles ($73 bln), in February it came to 4.6 trillion rubles ($80 bln), whereas by August it had dropped to around 900 bln rubles ($15 bln).

Trading on the derivatives market also demonstrated a massive plunge from January to August as it fell roughly 3.4-fold to 5 trillion rubles ($86 bln). That said, the bond market bucked the trend, growing 1.5-fold to 1.7 trillion rubles ($30 bln) since January.
