- Following Vienna’s announcement on Wednesday it will start conducting controls at its border with Slovakia to reduce migrant flows, Bratislava said it is considering doing the same at its border with Hungary.

- Austria has adopted a strong anti-migration stance since the migration crisis in 2015 and is a strong advocate for tightening controls at the EU’s external borders and increasing the number of repatriations of irregular migrants.
