  • Faced with economic hardships, climate concerns, and mounting scrutiny on the farming community, farmers have long suffered from mental health issues.
  • As much as 17% of all cases of agricultural workers taking sick leave in 2017 were due to mental health issues, according to data from the sector’s social insurance provider SVLFG, making this the second most common reason for health-related loss of income in the farming sector.
  • Ensuring the psychosocial well-being of those living and working on farms is the aim of the project ‘Farm Quality of Life’, co-financed by the Austrian federal and regional governments and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD).
