Georgia’s inflation accelerates to 11.5% in September

TBILISI, October 3. /TASS/. Georgia's annual inflation in September 2022 came to 11.5%. A month earlier, this figure stood at 10.9%, according to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Saqstati) published on Monday.

In September, prices for vegetables (7.6%), milk, cheese and eggs (4.6%), mineral and fresh water, soft drinks and natural juices (2.3%), fruits and grapes (2%), seafood (1.4%) rose the most in annual terms. Yet, sugar, jam (-1.4%), oils and fat (-1.1%) fell in price.

Year-on-year inflation has been on the rise in Georgia since March 2021. To curb inflation, the country's National Bank began to tighten its monetary policy by raising the refinancing rate to 11% per year.
