MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. The world is going through a global energy crisis that can last quite a long time, Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday. He was speaking at a meeting of the presidium of the Science and Education Council under the President of the Russian Federation.

"Many accents are being shifted in the modern environmental agenda. This also applies to the low-carbon transformation of the economy. Look at what is happening to other countries, what is happening to the energy market in general. Amid rising resource costs, which are a result of sanctions against our country, by the way, everything changed pretty much 180 degrees. Basically, the world is going through an energy crisis," he stated.

Therefore, Russia's approaches in this area "should be headed to the future, taking into account the current situation," he went on.

"Because we understand that such energy uncertainty can last quite a long time," he warned.

Nevertheless, the politician noted, such goals as maintaining climate stability and biological diversity, controlling emissions of harmful substances, and modernizing production, taking into account modern environmental standards, remain relevant. "All this requires our close attention," he added.

Medvedev touched upon the creation of a unified national monitoring system for climate-active substances. He recalled that the concept of this project had already been considered at a meeting of the presidium.

"The government has done significant work to harmonize it. The document is aimed at creating a modern system for monitoring climate-active substances in Russia, at modernizing the infrastructure, which, unfortunately, is weak and requires significant investment," the deputy head of the Security Council said.

He explained that the implementation of this project in the foreseeable future, "certainly, will be of great importance for the state."
