  • A small town near the French city of Nantes could soon welcome a new anaerobic digester benefitting up to 200 farmers, but locals oppose the plan over concerns of environmental harm.
  • The European Commission has outlined ambitions to produce 3 billion cubic metres of biogas to 35 billion cubic metres over the next ten years, equivalent to 20% of Russian gas imports.
  • According to the French Agency for Ecological Transition (ADEME), with its 160 million tonnes of livestock effluents produced each year, France has the potential to produce 130 TWh of biogas out of total gas consumption of nearly 450 TWh — equivalent to more than a third.
