- The EU lawmaker leading on the cloud-related provisions of the Data Act wants to remove the obligation that cloud providers must ensure an equivalent level of service when a client changes provider.
- To avoid the lock-in effect, the MEP wants the cloud service providers to provide customers with exit strategies, including the switching procedures, machine-readable data formats, technical restrictions, time necessary, and cost related to the transfers, including the possibility of testing the switching process.
- Regarding international data transfers, the opinion rapporteur wants the Commission to create a list of third countries where the transfer of European non-personal data would be illegal by considering the view of the European Data Innovation Board.
