- As gas prices retreat due to warm weather and full stocks, the German government will caution against EU energy market interventions at an EU leaders’ meeting on Thursday (20 October).
- On Tuesday, the European Commission tabled new proposals to tackle the energy crisis, including a “dynamic” price ceiling on gas traded on the Dutch TTF exchange, joint purchasing of gas and mandatory solidarity in case of emergency.
- Berlin, on the other hand, is on board with proposals to establish an EU platform for the joint purchasing of gas.
