- The European Commission’s ongoing preparations to enforce the Digital Services Act (DSA) include pre-designation talks with the largest platforms, early engagement with the member states and drafting three critical pieces of secondary legislation.
- Following the example of the supervisory fee that the European Central Bank charges on the supervised banks, the European Commission will also charge very large online platforms based on the annual estimated costs.
- The fees will tailor per provider as they will have to be proportionate to the size of the platform in terms of average monthly users but not go above the maximum cap of 0.05% of the global economic income of the economic provider.
