- Prime Minister António Costa will advocate for a more inclusive transition and a more balanced distribution of climate finance during his attendance at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on 7 and 8 November.
- António Costa is expected to arrive in Sharm el-Sheikh on Sunday, accompanied by his environment minister, Duarte Cordeiro, and is scheduled to give his keynote speech at the conference on 8 November.
- In the government’s programme, among other climate transition targets, it is expected that the country will increase the proportion of renewables in the electricity consumed from 60% to 80% by 2026 through investment in solar, wind and ocean energy, as well as through investment in the use of renewable gases such as green hydrogen.
