FRANKFURT, LONDON, PARIS, August 6 (WNM/newswires) - The trade war between the U.S. and China might hurt European equities as the dollar may be weakened by the deadlock in the trade dispute.
FRANKFURT
German stocks edged down on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 90.55 points, or 0.78 percent, to close at 11,567.96 points. Multinational chemical firm Linde lost 3.24 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by Deutsche Bank and European health care company Fresenius SE, which lost 2.35 percent and 2.08 percent respectively.
Global internet technology and financial services provider Wirecard gained 3.50 percent, becoming the top gainer. Personal-care company Beiersdorf and Deutsche Post advanced 3.20 percent and 2.26 percent respectively. Multinational software corporation SAP was the most traded share with a turnover of 280.3 million euros (313.5 million U.S. dollars).
LONDON
British stocks decreased on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.72 percent, or 52.16 points, to close at 7,171.69 points. Royal Bank of Scotland Group, a banking and financial services company, soared 1.70 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Spirax-Sarco Engineering and Ferguson increased by 1.29 percent and 1.26 percent, respectively.
Rolls-Royce Holdings, a Britain-based engineering company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 6.87 percent. NMC Health, a private healthcare services provider, dropped 6.00 percent. Centrica, a British multinational energy and services company, fell 2.67 percent.
PARIS
French shares lost on Tuesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 0.13 percent, or 6.90 points, to close at 5,234.65 points. Of the 40 selected large companies, 27 lost in the day. French mass media conglomerate Vivendi advanced 3.96 percent. French multinational luxury goods conglomerate LVMH rose 2.10 percent. French multinational automobile manufacturer Renault rose 1.70 percent.
A global oil and gas company that provides complete project life cycle services for the energy industry TechnipFMC lost 3.13 percent. French multinational company that designs and builds electrical systems and provides services Thales lost 1.88 percent. French multinational advertising and public relations company Publicis Groupe lost 1.70 percent.
