PARIS, January 17. / TASS /. French carmaker Renault announced that it would reduce its global sales in 2019 by 3.4%, the company said in a statement on Friday.
At the same time, the final document highlights the success of products manufactured in Russia under the Lada brand, sales of these vehicles increased by 3.6% in the Russian market last year, to 412 889. Overall, in the Russian market, the second in importance to Renault after the French, the corporation sold 509,000 vehicles. Also successful is the Romanian brand Dacia, the car sales of which increased by 5.1% in the European market (736,570 cars).
At the same time, the Corporation is pleased that it has managed to maintain its share of the global car market, a situation in which it qualifies as difficult. This is how Renault's management estimates that its performance has fallen slightly less than its main competitors have. Overall, Renault sales rose 1.3% (1.95 mln vehicles) in the European market, 0.1 percentage points above the average. At the same time, the company lost 0.4 percentage points its market share.
Overall, the company achieved the greatest success on the Brazilian market - a 9% increase in sales. In India Renault became the only company to increase sales, it reached + 7.9% in the market, which fell by 11.3%. However, at the world's largest car market in China, Renault managed to sell only 22,000 machines. Together with its partner Jinbei, sales reached 180,000 machines, showing a drop in sales at 17%.
