Turkey launches national auto industry with electric-car factory 24.07.2020

  • It’s been a long-held dream of Erdogan to create a national automobile industry capable of producing the country’s first indigenous car.
  • Alper Kanca, board chairman of the Automotive Suppliers Association of Turkey (TAYSAD), expects exports for the whole year to drop by 20%, costing Turkey about $6 billion.
  • Anadolu Group’s automotive subsidiary Anadolu Isuzu applied for short-time work benefitsbetween April and June 30, while Zorlu Group subsidiaries Vestel Elektronik and Vestel Beyaz halted production temporarily.
