Renault crashes to €8bn loss – with more pain to come

  • Renault has posted a record annual loss as coronavirus lockdowns put the brakes on sales.
  • The company reported a loss of €8bn (£6.9bn), compared with a €19m profit for 2019,  on revenues and vehicle sales both down more than fifth to €43.5bn and 2.95m respectively.
  • The shortage in chips could reduce its production this year by 100,000 vehicles.
