MOSCOW, November 22. /TASS/. According to preliminary data, Gazprom increased natural gas supplies to Austria by 33.5% to 12.7 bln cubic meters from January 1 to November 21, the Russian gas holding said on Friday after the meeting between Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller and OMV CEO Rainer Seele.
"The parties discussed current issues of cooperation. In particular, the case in point was the growth of gas supplies to Austria, which is taking place for the fifth year in succession. It was noted that Gazprom, according to tentative data, supplied 12.7 bln cubic meters of gas to the country from January 1 to November 21, 2019. This is 2.8% higher than throughout the year of 2018, which became record-breaking for Austria in respect of importing gas of Gazprom. Growth against the like period of 2018 is 33.5% (by 3.2 bln cubic meters)," the Russian gas company said.
Progress in Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project implementation has become a separate topic. Furthermore, prospects of cooperation in LNG sphere were discussed, within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed in June 2019.
Gazprom increased gas supplies to Austria by 34.8% to 12.3 bln cubic meters in 2018.
In June 2018, Gazprom Export and OMV Gas Marketing & Trading GmbH signed an agreement on extension of the contract on Russian natural gas deliveries to Austria by 2040.
