Russia's largest independent gas producer, Novatek, plans to put into operation the last, fourth line of the Yamal LNG plant for liquefying natural gas in the first half of 2020 - after completion of pre-commissioning activities, which will begin in March, Head of Novatek Leonid Mikhelson told reporters on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos.
"This year, in the first half of the year, we are launching the fourth line using our technology - we will start commissioning in March. In the first half of the year, we will launch it in different modes, because it will affect another project," he said.
According to Mikhelson, the capacity of the line, which will be built for the first time in Russia using domestic technology, will be about 1 mln tonnes, which will increase the plant's output to 19 mln tonnes. He explained that the launch will take place two to three months after the start of pre-commissioning activities, that is, in May-June.
