ST. PETERSBURG, September 15. /TASS/. Gazprom does not expect a significant increase in LNG supply in the world until 2025, the United States will be able to increase the volume only in the long term, Deputy Chairman of Gazprom Management Committee Oleg Aksyutin said at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.
"LNG does not just magically appear on the market. In 2023-2024, a significant increase in the supply of LNG on the market is not expected. LNG producers in North America can only increase supplies in the long term and only if prices remain high," he said.
"Significant volumes of LNG on the global market may not appear until 2025, while Europe will have to compete fiercely for these volumes with importers from Asian countries. This will lead to growing shortage of LNG on the market, and growth in prices," Aksyutin added.
According to him, Gazprom expects further deterioration of the situation in the European energy sector, as the EU has no alternative to Russian gas. "The situation on the European energy market will obviously only worsen. The European leadership is in no hurry to take constructive measures to overcome the crisis. At the same time, for Europe there is simply no full-fledged alternative to Russian pipeline gas," he said.
