Kuwait to begin ‘importing’ electric cars in 2020

  • Kuwait is expected to start importing electric powered cars starting from the beginning of next year after completing the regulations and controls prepared by the relevant committee.
  • Researcher Dr Haddab Al-Hamwi participating in the renewable energy program at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) said in a special statement the daily the automobile companies are expected to import 30 electric cars next year.
  • Al-Hamwi added, the renewable energy program pilot project is happening under the auspices of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences under the title ‘Evaluating the performance of the electric car in light of the harsh climatic conditions and setting a framework for the readiness of Kuwait City for the electric car’.
