Russia’s wind, solar power plants boost generation by 48.9% in 9M 2022, says operator

MOSCOW, October 7. /TASS/. Electricity generation by Russia's wind and solar power plants rose by 48.9% in January-September 2022 year-on-year to 6.1 bln kWh, and by 29.9% in September to 578 mln kWh, the System Operator of the Russian United Energy System (UES) reported on Friday.

Meanwhile, the share of renewable energy sources in the total electricity generation structure was 0.7% in September and 0.7% in nine months of this year.

In particular, generation by wind power plants increased by 44% in September, and climbed by 80.4% in January-September, while electricity output by solar power plants added 13.3% and 13.6%, respectively.
