- French lawmakers approved President Emmanuel Macron’s pick for CEO and chairman of soon-to-be fully state-owned energy giant EDF with a narrow majority, handing over the reins to the current chairman of Schneider Electric, Luc Rémont.
- The economy ministry was then quick to announce it would replace the current CEO before the end of his mandate in March of next year to quickly implement Macron’s plans to maintain the country’s fleet of nuclear power plants — including by building six new reactors.
- Currently, Rémont is the CEO of Schneider Electric, and previously held the president position at Gimélec – a union of companies in the French electronic industry – and that of adviser on the sale of Alstom at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
