  • MEPs approved the EU’s New Forest Strategy for 2030 on Tuesday (13 September).
  • The Commission’s debated proposal calls for a restoration of forests to meet the EU’s 50% reduction target by 2030 and climate neutrality by 2050 as set out in the Green Deal and the EU’s biodiversity strategy.
  • Parliament’s report does indeed state that “the CAP and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) are the main sources of support for forestry measures,” with these two instruments accounting for 90% of all EU funding for the forestry sector.
