- Lawmakers voted Wednesday (14 September) to increase the EU’s transport emissions reduction target from 13% to 16% by 2030.
- The Advanced Biofuel Coalition LSB, a trade association, welcomed the increased GHG reduction target in the transport sector, but was critical of the decision not to raise the advanced biofuel target in tandem.
- FuelsEurope, a trade association representing the liquid fuels industry, was also critical of the greater restrictions imposed by lawmakers on forestry biomass usage, arguing that the lack of support for forest residues will “reduce the potential availability of sustainable feedstocks for the production of renewable fuels.
