- Families that cannot pay their bills will not be disconnected from energy supplies this winter, the Irish utility regulator has promised.
- In the face of mounting concern over how all, but particularly the most vulnerable, households will fare in the colder months amidst the ongoing energy crisis, the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities (CRU) told a parliamentary committee on Tuesday that it would not disconnect anyone’s energy supply between 1 December 2022 and 28 February 2023.
- The measures being prepared by the CRU also include extended debt repayment windows and more favourable tariffs for customers already on financial hardship meters.
