  • Finland may vote against the Biodiversity Strategy tabled by the Commission.
  • In its 17-point strategy, the Commission requires EU countries to protect 20% of the land and sea area by 2030 and enforce strict protection of the remaining primary and old-growth forests.
  • On Friday, parliament’s Commerce Committee, which represents all parties, including those in the five-party government, decided to reject the EU’s strategy in its current form.
