- The Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 also put the spotlight on the EU’s dependence on fossil fuels from Russia, resulting in increased energy insecurity.
- Europe needs to urgently make sure that health systems are prepared and can adapt, by implementing things such as “multi-hazard national public health emergency preparedness and response plans,” early warning systems and “projections of future risk scenarios”.
