- Europe is one of the fastest-heating regions in the world, with temperatures rising over twice the global average in the last 30 years, threatening lives, economies and society.
- And disasters related to weather, climate and water are only likely to increase, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Sixth Assessment Report, which warned there is “high confidence” that, regardless of future warming, temperatures will rise in all European areas at a rate exceeding global changes.
- Europe is also leading on cross-border cooperation in climate change adaptation and providing early warning systems for extreme weather.
