Ukraine records almost 900 new coronavirus cases for second day running

KIEV, July 3. /TASS/. Ukrainian medical workers identified 876 more coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council said Friday.

"Over the past 24 hours, 876 coronavirus cases were recorded compared to 889 cases on July 2. The majority of cases was identified in the Lvov Region, Kiev, the Zakarpattia Region and the Rovno Region," the council said.

In the past 24 hours, a significant influx of deaths from coronavirus (27) was reported, which is 15 fatalities more compared to July 2. Moreover, 505 recoveries were recorded.

Since the outbreak began, 46,763 people contracted the virus in Ukraine, 1,212 people died and 20,558 recovered.

In late December 2019, Chinese officials notified the World Health Organization (WHO) about the outbreak of a previously unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan, in central China. Since then, cases of the novel coronavirus - named COVID-19 by the WHO - have been reported in every corner of the globe. On March 11, 2020, the WHO declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic.
