Belarus confirms 273 more coronavirus cases, six deaths in past day

MINSK, July 4. /TASS/. Coronavirus cases in Belarus have risen by 273 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 63,270, and six more patients died, the country's Health Ministry wrote on its Telegram channel on Saturday.

"As many as 63,270 people have tested positive for COVID-19 (a disease caused by the novel coronavirus - TASS). Since the infection outbreak, 418 patients with some chronic diseases and coronavirus infection died," it said.

According to the ministry, 50,669 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Belarus. The country has carried out 1,059,299 tests.

Belarus has not imposed any coronavirus lockdowns. Currently, the country is holding mass public events and a presidential campaign is underway, with the elections scheduled for August 9. This week, the health ministry ordered the hospitals repurposed for coronavirus patients to restart their usual functioning. On July 4, President Alexander Lukashenko said that the Belarusian healthcare system had withstood the pandemic and managed to beat it.
