CAIRO, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Egypt recorded on Saturday 238 new COVID-19 infections, increasing the total cases registered in the country to 94,316, said the Egyptian Health Ministry.
It is the seventh day in a row for the daily new infections to fall below 500 in the country.
Meanwhile, 1,499 patients were cured and discharged from hospitals, taking the total recoveries to 41,137, according to a statement by Health Ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed.
Megahed added that 29 patients died from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 4,834.
From the first week of July, the daily new COVID-19 fatalities and infections in Egypt started to decline amid remarkable increase of daily recoveries.
Egypt and China have been cooperating closely in fighting the pandemic through exchanging medical aid and expertise.
In early February, Egypt provided aid to China to help with its fight against COVID-19, and China later sent three batches of medical aid to the most populous Arab country.
