TASHKENT, September 26. /TASS/. Uzbekistan's coronavirus cases grew by 479 in the past day, 35 fewer than a day earlier, and the total case tally in the Central Asian Republic reached 54,660, the Health Ministry said.
In the past day, the recoveries rose by 513 to 50,954 (93% of all those infected). Some 0.155% of Uzbekistan's 34.2 mln population contracted the coronavirus. Four people died in the past 24 hours of complications caused by the coronavirus.
Since the start of the pandemic 459 patients have died from the coronavirus in Uzbekistan. Some 3,255 people are undergoing treatment in hospitals, with 718 of them in grave condition and another 289 in critical condition.
The country's authorities began to ease coronavirus restrictions on August 15, resuming public transport services and allowing hotels, catering enterprises, beauty salons, markets selling construction materials and non-food items, gyms and fitness centers to reopen. On September 18, the country's authorities decided to open Uzbekistan's borders to foreign nationals on October 1. However, mask wearing and social distancing remain mandatory and a ban on public gatherings remains in effect.
