Moscow has enough hospital beds for coronavirus patients – mayor

MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. Moscow has enough hospitals beds for coronavirus patients, Moscow's Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Friday.

"The epidemic is slowing down. To date, we have enough specialized beds for COVID-19 patients, with a 50 percent reserve. It also gives the sense of confidence," he said in an interview with the Vesti news roundup on the Rossiya-1 television channel.

According to the mayor, the capital city has managed to avoid an explosive growth of coronavirus morbidity rate.

The mayor's press service said on October 19 Moscow had organized 15,000 hospital beds for coronavirus patients.

Moscow tops the list of Russian regions in terms of confirmed coronavirus cases and the morbidity is now demonstrating upwards tendencies. As of today, Moscow has reported 386,908 coronavirus cases, including 5,478 during the past day. As many as 285,271 patients have recovered from the disease and 6,249 have died.
