MOSCOW, January 13. /TASS/. Around 2.1 million coronavirus vaccine doses will be received in Russia for general population before end of January, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova told a cabinet meeting headed by President Vladimir Putin Wednesday.
"As of today, we understand that 2.1 million doses of the vaccine will be in civil circulation, which means to use for [general] population, before end of January. We need to seriously ramp up the vaccination campaign," she noted.
Russia launched coronavirus vaccination in all regions in mid-December.
In December, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko reported that six production sites are now producing the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine and one more will be launched soon. During a briefing on December 10, Golikova noted that around 6.9 million doses of the vaccine will be available in Russia for general population.
According to the latest statistics, more than 91.6 million people have been infected worldwide and more than 1,900,000 deaths have been reported. To date, 3,471,053 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Russia, with 2,854,088 patients having recovered from the disease. Russia's latest data indicates 63,370 fatalities nationwide. Earlier, the Russian government set up an Internet hotline to keep the public updated on the coronavirus situation.
