Georgia documents record-low daily COVID-19 case count since September

TBILISI, January 18. /TASS/. Georgia has documented 110 cases of COVID-19, a disease caused by the novel coronavirus, in the past 24 hours, which is the record law daily figure since September 13, 2020. The overall number of people infected reaches 247,915, the government website informing about the coronavirus situation in the country stated on Monday.

The day before, 152 COVID-19 cases were documented. The record-high number of cases was documented on December 5, with 5,450 patients diagnosed with the virus on that day.

In the past 24 hours, 1,643 patients have recovered in Georgia, with the total number of people recovered reaching 234,636 (94.64% of all those infected). The number of people quarantined reaches 460.

In the past 24 hours, 24 patients have died from the virus in Georgia, with the overall death toll hitting 2,958. In total, 2,155,767 COVID-19 tests have been held in the republic, with 58% of the population covered.

Georgia expects first COVID-19 vaccine doses to arrive in February. During the first stage, about 700,000 people will be vaccinated, which constitutes to about 20% of the population.
