MOSCOW, November 7. /TASS/. A tendency towards a decrease in coronavirus circulation has been observed in Russia over the past six weeks, Melita Vujnovic, World Health Organization (WHO) representative in Russia, said in an interview with TASS.
"In Russia, we are observing a very good trend: for the past six weeks, both the number of those infected and the number of deaths have been decreasing. Even if we see that the number of tests has reduced by a certain percentage, still, the number of positive tests has continued to decrease. This means that precisely the virus' circulation is lower at this moment in Russia," she said.
However, according to her, the situation may change over the emergence of new strains and other factors. "So it is necessary to be cautious, as I said, to listen to your epidemiologists who are being very alert looking for new strains," the WHO official noted. "Discovering a novel strain does not mean that it will cause something, it is necessary to monitor its behavior. It is very important to be alert," she added.
