Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation shows the exhibition “CONTINENT – In Search of Europe” by the agency OSTKREUZ

The new exhibition “CONTINENT – In Search of Europe” at Deutsche Börse’s headquarters in Frankfurt/Eschborn shows photographs by the 22 members of the Berlin-based OSTKREUZ agency that deal with the European habitat and its population. The groups of works, developed over the past eight years especially for the exhibition, explore the question of how Europe and the coexistence of its population might be shaped and developed in the future.

Personal, social, and political aspects of togetherness are considered critically and emphatically at the same time. The works deal with themes such as identity, security, migration, and integration as well as humanism, democracy and freedom of expression. The photographic positions focus above all on the image of human being and its environment. Thus, the presentation not only creates a visual contribution to the current debates about Europe’s past and future but is also to be understood as a declaration of love to the continent. The exhibition is a cooperation of the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation with the OSTKREUZ agency, the Akademie der Künste and the curator Ingo Taubhorn.

The OSTKREUZ agency was founded shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1990 by seven renowned photographers from the former GDR and has been run by its members ever since. In the more than 30-year history of the agency, the photographers regularly take a position on social and political current events around the world in free projects.

The photographers shown are: Jörg Brüggemann, Espen Eichhöfer, Sibylle Fendt, Johanna-Maria Fritz, Annette Hauschild, Harald Hauswald, Heinrich Holtgreve, Tobias Kruse, Ute Mahler, Werner Mahler, Dawin Meckel, Thomas Meyer, Frank Schinski, Jordis Antonia Schlösser, Ina Schoenenburg, Anne Schönharting, Linn Schröder, Stephanie Steinkopf, Mila Teshaieva, Heinrich Voelkel, Maurice Weiss, Sebastian Wells.
