Santiago/Bonn/Madrid, (5 November 2019) -- On Friday, 1 November 2019, the Bureau of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) accepted the proposal from the Government of Chile to hold the 2019 UN Climate Change Conference (COP25) in Madrid, which was made possible by the generous offer by the Government of the Kingdom of Spain. The following is an information update to facilitate participation:

COP25 will take place from 2 to 13 December 2019 at IFEMA - Feria de Madrid (https://www.ifema.es/en), Avda. del Partenón, 5 28042 Madrid, Spain.

The conference will take place under the Presidency of the Government of Chile and will be held with logistical support from the Government of Spain. The President-designate for the conference is Ms. Carolina Schmidt, Minister of Environment of Chile.

The UN Climate Change secretariat is now working closely with the Governments of Chile and Spain to organize the conference as efficiently and expeditiously as possible.

Every effort is being made to allow for a large participation and to maintain the scope of exhibition spaces and events as planned. The final list of side events and exhibits will be adjusted to the available space at the venue.

The UNFCCC secretariat will communicate information as soon as it becomes available. All information on the conference will be published on the website at https://unfccc.int/COP25.

Upon arrival to the venue, accredited media will be requested to proceed to the registration desk to collect their badge for access to the conference premises. Along with the acknowledgement document, a valid passport or a nationally approved identification card should be presented to the registration staff for the issuance of a conference badge.

Early registration – before Monday, 2 December 2019 – is highly recommended to avoid delays on the first day of the conference.

Multiple registration for the conference is not permitted (i.e. registration as an observer organization representative and a Party or State representative and/or press/media representative).
