Stuttgart.  The new GLB can now be ordered. This highly versatile SUV is the first compact model from Mercedes-Benz to be optionally available with a third row of two individual seats. The entry-level model is the GLB 200 (combined fuel consumption 6.2-6.0 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 142-138 g/km)[1] with 120 kW (163 hp). As a five-seater it is priced from € 37,746.80[2]. For all GLB models the seat row with two retractable, individual seats costs an extra € 1309. This spacious family model will be in the dealerships at the end of 2019.

With powerful and efficient four-cylinder engines, the latest driving assistance systems with cooperative driver support, the intuitively operated infotainment system MBUX and comprehensive ENERGIZING comfort control (ENERGIZING package/package Plus: € 1666/2975), the new model has all the strengths of the current compact class generation from Mercedes-Benz. Thanks to further development of the exhaust aftertreatment system, the two-litre diesel engine (OM 654q) already meets the Stage 2 RDE (Real Driving Emissions) requirements coming into force in 2020, and is certified to Euro 6d.

The two optional seats in the third row can be used by passengers up to 1.68 metres in height. More variability comes as standard in the seven-seater: the second seat row has an EASY-ENTRY function and fore-and-aft adjustment. The seat surface has a 40:60 split. The two adjustments above are also available for the five-seater at a price of € 428.40.

Attractive equipment packages

4MATIC models feature the Offroad Engineering package as standard. This includes Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) and an additional driving mode. This adapts the power delivery of the engine, the characteristics of 4MATIC and ABS intervention for off-road driving on easy terrain. An animation of the driving situation can be called up on the media display. In combination with MULTIBEAM LED headlamps, the 4MATIC models have a special off-road light. This makes it easier to see obstacles in rough terrain in the dark.

The features of the Business package (€ 1963.50) are Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC, seat heating, touchpad, extended MBUX functions (with "Hey Mercedes" voice control, personal profiles, predictive functions and a Wifi hotspot), HDD navigation and preparation for LiveTraffic Information.

The Start package (€ 1666) can be ordered until the end of 2019. Its features: LED High Performance headlamps, EASY-PACK tailgate, Mirror package with electrically folding exterior mirrors, self-dimming driver and rear-view mirrors, heated windscreen washer system and 4-way lumbar support.

Intelligent LED light technology

LED high-performance headlamps (€ 987.70) and MULTIBEAM LED headlamps (€ 1487.50) are available on request. The latter allow extremely quick and precise, electronically controlled adjustment of the headlamps to suit the current traffic situation.

Fog lamps with LED technology are also optionally available (€ 220.15). They distribute the light more widely than the main headlamps and thus illuminate peripheral areas better. Their low position in the front bumper helps reduce the risk of dazzling.

Extensive driver support

The new GLB has modern driving assistance systems with cooperative driver support. Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Brake Assist are on board as standard in Europe, for example.

The Driving Assistance package (1796.90 euros) is comprehensive and has coordinated functions. It includes the following systems: Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC; Active Speed Limit Assist, extended automatic moving-off on motorways; route-based speed adjustment with end-of-tailback function; Active Steering Assist; Active Lane Changing Assist; Active Emergency Stop Assist with SOS function; rescue lane function; Active Brake Assist; turn-off and junction function; end-of-tailback emergency braking function; Evasive Steering Assist; Active Lane Keeping Assist; Active Blind Spot Assist; exit warning function; pedestrian warning function in the area of zebra crossings; PRE-SAFE® PLUS.

Three equipment lines, one exclusive special model

The new GLB can be individualised with three equipment lines: Style (€ 892.50), Progressive (€ 1814.75) and AMG Line (€ 3510.50) and the Night package (€ 505.75).

In the first year it can also be ordered as an Edition 1 (extra cost: € 9044). This special model is characterised by strong contrasts: on the exterior, the 20-inch light-alloy wheels are embellished with opal orange rim flanges. The interior is dominated by the colour bahia brown, with eye-catching coral red topstitching. The interior trim is in open-pored brown line structure walnut wood imprinted with an exclusive coral red pattern.
