Diesel engines help to comply with the thresholds for greenhouse gas emissions. Combustion is more efficient and they emit up to 15 percent less CO2 than comparable petrol engines. The CO2 benefits are indeed even greater for larger vehicles. The very latest generation of diesel engines from the Volkswagen Group (EA288 evo) achieves even lower emission levels and reduces CO2 emissions by up to 10 g/km (NEDC) in a direct comparison to the previous generation.
