Shanghai crude oil futures close higher

SHANGHAI, May 16 (Xinhua) -- Crude oil futures closed higher Thursday on the Shanghai International Energy Exchange.

The most active crude oil contract for June delivery was up 5.6 yuan (about 81 U.S. cents) to close at 506.5 yuan a barrel.

On Thursday the total trading volume for ten listed crude oil futures contracts on the exchange was 299,574 lots, with a turnover of about 151.1 billion yuan.

China launched the crude oil futures trading, which is open to overseas investment, on March 26 last year.
